Teacher Email
Hello, my name is Lisa Mertz. I teach biology, environmental science, marine science, anatomy and physiology at JEDI. I began my teaching career in 2009 at Marshall High School. I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology--Secondary Education and in Athletic Training from Minnesota State University, Mankato. I began teaching online with JEDI in 2010. After a few years of teaching in the classroom and virtually as well as athletic training for the sports at the high school, I transitioned to clinical athletic training and virtually teaching with JEDI. I have worked in orthopedic surgery clinics for 11 years doing casting, therapy, and post operative care for athletes of all ages. I mentor athletic training students from UW schools and train orthopedic skills to nurses as well as helping in surgery. I hope you find my passion for health care and biology as you work through my courses. I enjoy talking to my students about their interest in science and about career options in health care.
A LITTLE MORE ABOUT ME
In my free time, I enjoy taking our dog Pepper for walks, camping with my husband and daughter, running, yoga, and gardening.
