AP Chemistry Lab Requirements Hello AP Chemistry Students, Thanks for taking on the challenge of AP Chemistry! Although the content for this course is delivered online, the College Board requires that AP Chemistry courses meet a 25% Hands-on Lab Requirement which includes 16 hands-on labs. This means that you must have a lab space and lab supplies and chemicals to complete this course.

For more information about the College Board hands-on lab Requirement: http://www.collegeboard.com/html/apcourseaudit/courses/chemistry_curricular_requirements.html Specifically: Students are provided the opportunity to engage in investigative laboratory work integrated throughout the course for a minimum of 25 percent of instructional time, which must include a minimum of 16 hands-on laboratory experiments while using basic laboratory equipment to support the learning objectives listed within the AP Chemistry Curriculum Framework.
To be sure that WVS can transcript your course as “AP”, you will need to provide a school contact who will help you organize materials and safely conduct the labs. Please contact your local mentor (coach) if you are unsure of who will be your school contact for the lab work.
The majority of the labs will require a formal lab report. The required format for the lab write-ups will be described in each lab assignment in the course. You must maintain an electronic portfolio or keep a paper copy of the lab report for each experiment performed in this class.
