Your FIRST STEP!

It's important that you check your e-mail on a regular basis. The majority of your coaching contact will take place through the  e-mail account you have given JEDI for contact.

 

You will receive contact information for your students and their parent(s) by  e-mail notifying you of the student's course approval.

You will also use your e-mail regularly to keep in touch with the JEDI staff and your student's teachers.

That is where you can begin.


We send coaches a COURSE NOTIFICATION LETTER to let you know a student has been enrolled in a course you will be supervising. The letter is sent to the student, parent, and guidance as well so everyone has the same information.

Take a look at the sample letter below. It contains important information for access to your student’s course.

     Welcome to JEDI Online Learning.  There are several important pieces of information listed below.

 ACCESS:  To access your course, go to www.jedivirtual.org.  Click GO TO CLASS located on the right.  Enter your User Name and Password below.  Click LOGIN.

 GETTING STARTED:  Once logged in, be sure your computer is set to allow pop-ups from http://www.jedi.k12.wi.us/moodle.  To enable pop-ups click on Tools, click Pop-up Blocker, click Turn off popup blocker.   Your course(s) will be listed under MY COURSES on the left hand side of the page.   You must complete this course by the End Date noted above. 

 BEFORE beginning your course take the time to read all of the introductory course materials, create a personalized version of the pace chart and e-mail a copy to your learning coach/On-site Monitor, and print off the teacher contact information for future reference.

 If you have trouble, GET HELP!  Begin by contacting your Teacher and/or your Learning Coach.  We want you to succeed in your online class experience. If you have any further questions or concern, you may call me at 608-758-6232.


JEDI Student Services will also send you an informational document containing student and parent contact information.

These tools will give you the information you need to prepare for coaching the student.Print them and create a file for each of your students.

Save a copy to a file with the student's name on your computer too.

STEP #2

Contact each of your students. You may choose to give each student and their parents a personal call to establish a relationship, but we suggest you ALSO send a welcome e-mail that they can print out and save for the future. Include contact information and any other information you feel important.

You will want to make contact with each of your students at least ONCE per week to maintain your relationship with each of them AND let them know you are there, watching what they are doing and willing to assist if needed.
